In the crosshairs?

Have to wonder now how far speech against the government or any one administration will be allowed to go. Where this mass-murdering fruit bat in Tuscon is legally allowed to say anything he wants, perhaps it would have been prudent to keep a sharper eye on him based on the things he was publishing about himself. The flip side of that thought is who decides whom and what is threatening versus whom and what is free speech. That has always been the problem, hasn't it?

Where I think of this blog as a self-indulgent rant against a government that has run amok with my tax dollars, there are some that would see my comments as hate-filled, vitriolic, racist, right-wing rhetoric and that I could inspire or commit violence because of it. This is, of course, absurd, but not out of the realm of possibility. Where I feel that I make legitimate points about the abuses of the government and those that voted in the current administration, I have been accused of all of the things previously mentioned by those that cannot argue with anything other than name-calling: hate-filled, vitriolic, racist, right-wing, etc. They have no argument to back up the financial abuses of this current administration, they have no answer for the Republican election in November, and now are using the murders and attempted murders in Tuscon in much the same way as they use the word 'racist'.

I have seen comments that go so far as to call the murders 'social justice' and 'a logical response' to desperation and loss of hope! It is absolutely outrageous! To have that mindset is baffling to me. These people who are calling out the Right for their 'hate-speech' can go right on their merry way making statements that justify the actions of this kid! Condoning it, if you will. If the Congresswoman had been a Republican, no doubt the Libs would have made arguments that she had asked for or deserved it for promoting the right-wing agenda and trying to repeal 'Health Care'.

I do firmly believe that Right or Left, politicians are flip sides of the same coin. They draw a paycheck from our taxes far disproportionate to the amount of work that they do, and some of them do it for a lifetime while engaging in morally and/or fiscally questionable behaviors to keep as much of that money as they can. We are relegated more often than not to voting for the lesser of 2 evils. I tend to vote Republican because they promise to let me keep more of the money that I earn. This rarely happens. Independents and Libertarians just do not have the money or the numbers to get into office themselves, but only serve to weight one of the 2 major parties. However, it has become all too evident that the Left, Liberals, Democrats, whatever they call themselves, are frighteningly disconnected from what is reality for the rest of us.

It is imperative that we get these people out of power, AND NOT BY SHOOTING THEM, mind you! Last time I checked, we were a free voting society that has the power to seat and unseat officials with our votes, our words, our minds. Only when a government threatens the freedoms and safety of its own people with force is force a 'logical' response by the People.
